Through extensive testing, certification and tournament level competition, our staff has attained mastery in this martial art and now enjoy sharing their skill and passing it on to their students.
Lewis Estes (9th Dan / Hanshi)
Hanshi Estes is a direct student of Soke Shogo Kuniba 10th Dan. He spent 9 years training daily with the Japanese Master. Hanshi has spent the last 42 years training and traveling worldwide to perfect his arts.
In addition to his karate training he has also earned his 7th Dan in Goshin-do, Kobudo, and Iaido.
His experience ensures each student of the most Traditional Japanese Karate training outside of Japan.
Tim Click (6th Dan / Kyoshi)
Kyoshi Click has been a student of Hanshi Estes for the past 30 years. He is the Dojo Cho and Chief Assistant instructor.
Kyoshi is well versed in all the Martial Arts taught at this Kuniba Kai Dojo and has taught in many countries worldwide.
Don Ragland (4th Dan / Shihan Dai)
Shihan Dai Ragland has been with the Dojo for 25 years and he is a direct student of Hanshi Estes.
He has been instructing and working with students for the past 17 years.
His knowledge and skill will provide students with the best possible martial arts experience.
Michael Evart (3rd Dan / Sensei)
Sensei Evart has been training at the Virginia Beach Dojo for 21 years and teaching for 13.
He has experience teaching a variety of age groups and skill levels, has competed in local tournaments, and traveled to Japan to test for his 1st Dan.
He is a strong proponent of utilizing karate as a way of life to better one’s community and physical, mental, and spiritual self.
